Spare sets
The dentists are particularly keen to make sure that all their patients have spare sets of dentures in case of loss or breakage.
This is achieved over a period of time, as the old set becomes the spare set. Over time, the spare set can be adjusted so it fits better.
Many of our patients have a collection of sets which is all to the better!

Why do my old sets not fit 100% well?
The plastic of dentures obviously cannot change shape! It is YOU who is changing shape.
After extractions, the bone which held your teeth in place is absorbed over a period of time by the body. So the snug fit which your dentures once had is compromised.

Some patients choose to up-date their spare sets when their new set is made, so that their spare set is as comfortable as is possible. This can be done by taking an impression within the old set and adjusting the old set.

The dentist will advise you always to have the spare set with you (especially on holidays). They always advise as well, to pack denture fixative, as the spare set will never fit 100% well especially with the passage of time. If your main, current set breaks or is lost, the fixative will help matters along with your spare set, while the main, current set is being mended.

Even if things are not 100% comfortable, at least your holiday will not be 100% ruined!

• take a medical history
• discuss things with you
• advise on the necessity [or not] of X-rays to check on everything which cannot be seen with the naked eye.

Cosmetic treatment for your dentures
Denture wearers have the option to have a completely new set made for cosmetic reasons.
The teeth which are placed on the denture can be chosen to be especially white, and especially luminescent and natural.
